Automation Technician – Ref 004/26 

A leading Systems Integrator and Industrial Automation Specialist require an Automation Technician with 5 or more years’ experience.

The requirements and responsibilities are not limited to the following:

Minimum Requirements

  • Trade Technician
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial automation.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and work after hours when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend customer breakdowns and provide rapid fault diagnosis.
  • Commission and maintain industrial automation systems.
  • Modify and improve PLC/HMI software.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades.
  • Complete technical reports and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Maintain a professional and safety-first approach at all times.

  • Reliable, honest and committed to delivering quality work.

Essential Skills

  • PLC & HMI Software Development – Average to Good
    • Rockwell Automation (preferred)
    • Siemens experience advantageous
    • Ability to modify, troubleshoot and commission PLC/HMI programs.
  • Field Fault Finding – Excellent
    • Diagnose and resolve instrumentation, PLC, VSD, electrical and process-related faults.
    • Work efficiently under pressure to minimise plant downtime.
  • Electrical & Instrumentation Fault Finding – Excellent
    • Read and interpret electrical drawings.
    • Fault-find control panels, MCCs, instrumentation loops and field devices.
    • Strong understanding of industrial communication networks is advantageous.
